Catch a Wisconsin Woodsmen Hockey Game in Tomah, WI

Local Hockey, Big Energy

Looking for something fun to do in Tomah on a fall or winter evening? Head to the rink and catch a Wisconsin Woodsmen hockey game. With fast-paced action, enthusiastic fans, and plenty of excitement from the opening faceoff to the final horn, a Woodsmen game is a great way to experience a different side of Tomah.

Based in Tomah, the Wisconsin Woodsmen are a junior hockey team competing in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The organization brought junior hockey to the community in 2023, giving local fans the opportunity to watch high-level hockey right in their own backyard.

And while you don’t have to be a die-hard hockey fan to enjoy a game, once you experience the energy inside the rink, you may find yourself cheering right along with the crowd.

Meet the Wisconsin Woodsmen

The Wisconsin Woodsmen are part of the NA3HL, a Tier III junior hockey league that gives young players the chance to keep developing their skills while pursuing opportunities to play at higher levels.

For the Woodsmen, hockey is about more than what happens on the ice. The organization is also focused on becoming part of the Tomah community. Players live and train in the area during the season, and the team participates in local events and community activities.

That connection makes watching a Woodsmen game feel like a hometown experience, even though many of the players come to Tomah from outside the area.

Fast-Paced Hockey and Big Energy

If you’ve never been to a junior hockey game, it’s worth checking out for the atmosphere alone.

The action moves quickly, with players battling for the puck, making fast passes and racing from one end of the ice to the other. Big saves, breakaway opportunities, physical play, and last-minute goals can keep the crowd on its feet.

And because the Tomah Ice Center is a smaller venue, you aren’t watching the game from miles away. You’re close to the action, can hear the skates on the ice, feel the crowd’s energy, and celebrate every goal with fellow Woodsmen fans.

Make It a Night Out in Tomah

A Woodsmen game is also an easy addition to a Tomah getaway or evening out.

Grab dinner before the game, explore downtown Tomah, then head to the Tomah Ice Center for puck drop. Or make the game part of a weekend visit and pair it with shopping, local attractions, outdoor recreation, or a stay at one of Tomah’s area accommodations.

Bring the family, invite a group of friends, or make it a date night. Hockey games offer a fun evening, whether you’re already a hockey enthusiast or simply looking for a new local experience.

Cheer for the Home Team

One of the best parts of following a local sports team is becoming familiar with the players, the traditions, and the community of fans that surrounds them. So grab your friends, find your seat, and get ready for the puck to drop. The Wisconsin Woodsmen bring plenty of action to the ice.
